We have been purchasing & using the Busy Buddy Bristle Bone for several years. Denise’s Dog Dish & Shasta’s Yorkie Yap/ denisegruzensky.com only shares information about things we feel you will benefit from as well. PetSafe is not responsible for the content of this post.

I hate having my teeth brushed and dog mom is constantly looking up “How to brush your dog’s teeth”. I think she has tricked me. As February comes to a close Dog Mom finally decided to help me write about one of my favorite toys.  I love my PetSafe Busy Buddy Bristle Bone Dog Toy, Small by PetSafe and didn’t want to give Dog Mom the chance to even take the picture (see above).   I’m going to go ahead and get busy-pun intended (see the video below) and let Dog Mom take over.

Don’t tell Shasta but I love the Busy Buddy Bristle Bone for all of the great things it does for him.  Not only does it keep him busy but it also solves my more concerning question of how to brush your dog’s teeth without the struggle. Nothing disturbs Shasta more than touching his mouth. When we 1st rescued him this really concerned me since almost immediately he had to have his teeth cleaned and a large number of them pulled.  How was I ever going to keep his teeth clean & prevent dental disease?  The American Veterinary Dental Collage says periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition in both dogs and cats.  When dental disease is left untreated it can cause systemic problems with damage to internal organs and even death.  Then our vet in Paradise Dr. Colyer showed us the Busy Buddy Bristle Bone.

Busy Buddy Bristle Bone from PetSafeI usually give it to Shasta about once per week as he also has activity toys to use when we are away (check out Shasta using the Tornado & IQ Ball). He does not usually destroy toys but we do end up replacing the Busy Buddy Bone about every 6 months.  I obviously had not read the fine print prior to preparing to discuss it here because I just learned it is top shelf dishwasher safe fixing one reason we end up replacing it, go figure it gets dirty.  Another reason is the bristles do not withstand Shasta’s gnawing for more than 6 months.  The bone also comes in Extra Small, Small, Medium and Large sizes so you can choose the PAWfect size for your furry family member!

The true test though was at his dental cleaning this month.  I try to always make sure to have Shasta’s teeth cleaned during National Pet Dental Health Month in February since most Veterinary offices offer a discount (be sure to ask yours).  At his cleaning a few weeks ago…. he didn’t loose a single tooth!!  That, my fellow pet parents, to me says it ALL!

Do you wonder how to brush your dog’s teeth? How have you solved the problem?  PetSafe’s Busy Buddy Bone has helped us take the struggle out of brushing Shasta’s teeth.

We have a VERY EXCITING update!  Shasta had his 3rd dental cleaning since we rescued him Feb 9 2016.  Guess how many teeth he lost????…..

Zero, yep that’s right.  Thanks to the bristle bone brushing Shasta’s teeth he didn’t lose ANY TEETH for the 2nd time!!

No stress dog dental cleaning
